David Wright

David Wright, third baseman for the New York Mets, has had success not only on the baseball field but also in the community.  His foundation, which he founded in 2005 at the age of 22, provides aid and assistance toward the health, emotional development, and education for children in need through programs and annual events in the New York and Norfolk, VA metropolitan areas.  The beneficiary organizations of Wright’s foundation include the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.  Click here for more information:

In terms of marketability, the 26-year old from Norfolk, Virginia has unlimited potential.  He plays baseball in the largest media market in North America.  He already has endorsement deals with Vitamin Water, Wilson, and Delta Airlines, who recently named one of their MD-88 planes after him, the “Wright Flight.”

A great article on David can be found in New York Magazine, entitled “Mr. Clean,” which does a great job of portraying Wright’s charismatic nature as well as his charm as a fan favorite in the Mets organization.  “He’s clean.  He’s the quintessential pro,” says Reed DeLuca, a 40-year old Mets fan from New Jersey.  Click on this link for the entire article, written by David Amsden:
