John Mayer Headlines Concert at Children’s Hospital in New York

Posted on: December 24, 2008

Valhalla, New York, just down the road from Legacy Direct’s offices, is the home of Blythedale Children’s Hospital.  The Westchester County hospital was established in 1891 and is dedicated exclusively to the diagnosis, care and treatment of children with complex medical and rehabilitative needs.

For 17 years, Blythedale has held a holiday concert for the patients, their parents, and the staff at the hospital.  During the concert, which was broadcast live on New York’s 95.5 PLJ on December 22nd, local community members were urged to donate by calling into the station or bidding in an online auction for rock & roll and sports memorabilia.  All of the donations and money raised from the auction went towards supporting the vital programs and services for children that are offered at Blythedale.

Among the performers at the concert were 31-year old John Mayer and 29-year old Sara Bareilles, whose hit single, “Love Song,” topped the Billboard charts in 2007.  In year’s past, the popular fundraiser has drawn such star power as Jon Bon Jovi, Dave Matthews, Vanessa Williams, Cyndi Lauper, Tony Bennett, Barenaked Ladies, Jewel, and many more.

Amazingly enough, the radio station, 95.5 PLJ’s “Scott and Todd in the Morning” show has raised more than $3 million for the children’s rehabilitation hospital.  Also, the annual concert raises over $250,000 every year, all of which goes to Blythedale.
